If you meet someone who has doubts about the effectiveness of kindness, mention that paying it forward through Random Acts of Kindness is a way to bring about important personal, cultural, community, and societal change.
We currently encounter various signs of disrespect among adults and children — road rage, adult-to-adult intimidation, school bullying. While violence can demoralize a community, kindness can empower and uplift it. Kindness through caring is one of our most important human tools in connecting with one another, enhancing the emotional climate around us, and bringing good into the world. Becoming a Kindness Ambassador and Paying It Forward, is a positive way to help uplift the morale and general emotional well being of people around us every day. Kindness is fundamental to human experience and is essential to the success of human relationships. We all need kindness shown to us, and we all need to express it. Kindness connects us to one another and inspires hope within us. Paying it forward, shows others that we are not living in a vacuum, but that we are expressly aware of what is happening to our neighbors, friends, coworkers or even strangers in our midst. Any form of kindness will help to transcend those boundaries we place among ourselves — boundaries of religion, race, gender, culture, age. Acts of kindness encourage friendship, reciprocity, and healing among individuals and groups of people. To be kind is to call forth the best of our humanity. These are some really financially distressing times. Paying it forward with cash, or kind, can help someone on the brink of financial disaster, recover in a profound way. We give gifts of cash to various charitable organizations every year. There are those among us who would stop thinking about suicide, stop being depressed, or have such high incidence of hypertension that leads to many strokes and dysfunctional kidneys, if we decide to also give a fraction |
of what we give to organized charity to our hurting neighbors, friends, family members or co-workers in need.
Through a personal pay it forward, you would get to pick the cause that you genuininely want to support. Let us begin at home, right here in our South Florida Community...like the good book says...charity begins at home. Check out Inspirational Quotes HERE Many of the world’s great thinkers and leaders have recognized and believe in the power of kindness. What about people who say that paying it forward with kindness shouldn’t be random? Random acts of kindness” is a response to the widely used phrase “random acts of violence” that we hear so often. The word “random” does not necessarily mean “unplanned,” any more than random acts of violence are unplanned. As you will see, we promote both unplanned and planned acts of kindness. There are times when we are aware of someone’s need, and we plan a way to help out. Other times a stranger may need money for a taxi or the bus, and we spontaneously hand over some extra cash of our own. Some kind acts require significant planning, and some require nothing more than momentary inspiration. All are valuable. We encourage all of them, no matter how small you may think it is. You will never know what will change some one else's life for the better, unless you attepmt to pay it forward in a random way. We use the word “random” to encourage you to look beyond your circle of friends and family. It is sometimes those completely unexpected gestures to or from total strangers that have the most impact on our lives. Practicing kindness is raising our awareness to those people surrounding us every day — at home, at work, on the street, in the supermarket — any one of whom may need an act of kindness. South Florida Connects is encouraging you to go ahead...pay it forward. You might find it quite theraputic for you. Don't be surprised if that happens. |
Here at South Florida Connects, we know that positive acts bring all kinds of people together. Among our participants, some are more likely to pay it forward through spontaneous acts of kindness, some choose to pay it forward through planned activities, and some do both. We honor them all, because these people are living kindness, and they are truly changing the world by practicising Pay It Forward goodness and touching and blessing, countless lives everyday.
